Regarding the previous answer, machines enable me to use my brain for thinking at work, so that I do not have to do the manual stuff - it is not boring, and I work extremely hard at being clever.Depends on the technology and how it is used.
For instance automation in factories can free people up and give them more leisure time.

tracking technology and databases of personal data can be used to spy on or inhibit people from a number of things.Well, Oscar Wilde had a theory back in the day that new technology was going to free mankind by letting machines do all the really boring work so humans would be free to think higher thoughts. Poor old Oscar, how wrong did he get it?
Now humans do nothing but boring jobs and no one bothers with higher thinking because they're too busy worrying about their finances.it not on supress liberties rather enslaves and kill. Just see the degraded environment today. just see the food we eat today. just see the sedentry joyless lives we are living today just worring everymoment about the money , money and money. technology and lust for more technomolgy to get fame riches and made a mess of this world. i really don't understand why we want to get every work done in the half the time it takes now.??? get new technology get more food in half the space though food may be adulterated...get technology and reach out to the world at large in seconds.. and forget all the near and dear ones.
